Summer 2008 Anime Preview! It?s only the best that we have to offer

And it’s about time as well.

Okay, so I’ll admit that I was too lazy to do this because there really isn’t any new series I’m looking forward to watching this season, but I’ll still be following the first episodes of a couple, just in case my judgment is totally wrong. I also couldn’t be bothered adding the summaries and the links to the official sites, etc, so just go to THAT. I realize it’s no good having a lazy ass your leader, but I worked on the Annotated Blogroll loong enough. All you really need is nice pictures and a few words of what the writers’ thought. Besides, I only like series with nice pictures and a decent plotline. Otherwise, I don’t bother with it at all. midnightrose won’t be following any series either since she doesn’t like the sound of any, or the look of it for that matter, and she basically gets all her anime off me anyway. The image above was somewhere from Danbooru.

Sekirei

Since I am technically already in the process of reading the manga and I’d like to see for myself how the anime adaption turns out. I doubt the anime is going to be very spectacular, but the prospect of girls fighting each other for their master’s sake reminds me a lot of Pokemon. Watching it animated on screen is just too good to pass up.

Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu

I could have sworn I read the storyline from somewhere(school idol turns out to be an otaku) but alot of story lines in anime seem closely similar..So I’ll be looking forward to this one but with not much expectations other than some comedy and otaku culture exposure.

I don’t know if I’ll be around until the end of the Summer season since I’m starting college(not sure where yet) in fall, so…unless I can get my hands on a decent internet connection, I’m basically screwed until God knows when >.<

  • otou-san:

Birdy the Mighty Decode

The concept is so ridiculously stupid, and it’d have to be in order to live up to the goofy-ass name. But when I clicked through the names, I saw a lot of things I like. This is a who’s-who of mecha greats, responsible for scripts, storylines, and mecha designs in Eureka 7, RahXephon, various Gundams, and even SDF Macross. The manga’s apparently pretty old-school and was drawn by Masami Yuuki of Patlabor fame. So the credits here speak for themselves, even if they’re talking in a language where “Birdy the Mighty” somehow sounds cool.

Hidamari Sketch x365

I love random, I love slice of life and I love Yuuno. The original was just pure win. Its a story about absolutely nothing in particular, but these seem to be the ones I enjoy the most.

As for Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto ~Natsu no Sora~ and Slayers REVOLUTION… wow.. its been too many years since I watched the originals so I may of forgotten exactly why I liked these two, but I remember both of these being absolutely awesome.

Extra note from blissmo: Me likes the pictures D

  • JLeeson:

Natsume Yuujin-chou

I actually don’t think much of it. The concept seems kind of weak, but the character design and art is appealing so I am hoping that I am wrong about the concept

what I think about it is Edward Elric channeling ghosts…. badass!
  • blissmo:

Blade of the Immortal

I’m feeling so and so with this one because it reminds me of Samurai Champloo, plus I like anime set in medieval times plus the gory of war and conflict.

Telepathy Shoujo Ran

The pictures are nice, which is why I’m going to watch the first episode, but I can already see that there may be some corny-love-friendship-trust themes to ensue.

World Destruction

I’m not particularly interested in anime adapted from games, nor do I like the obvious pairing of the blonde and the long red-head, but again the pictures are decent.

But overall, chances of me actually following one of these series until the end is pretty low. I wasn’t sure if 21st Century Digital Boy would be able to follow a new series since he’s already got a long list, or it newgeekphilosopher was interested since he’s got Kaiba and he’s getting busy now.
